Mostafa Alizadeh
Mostafa Alizadeh, a former freestyle wrestling champion of Iran and an international wrestling coach, joined West Coast RTC as an Head RTC Coach in July 2025. He is recognized as one of the most experienced and influential coaches at both national and international levels.
From 2012 to 2019, Alizadeh served as a coach for Iran’s national freestyle wrestling teams in the U17 and U20 age groups. During this period, he coached Iranian teams at seven World Championships and seven Asian Championships, helping them achieve multiple team titles including world championship titles, runner-up finishes, and six consecutive team championships in Asia. Throughout these years, Iranian wrestlers secured over 40 world medals and more than 55 Asian medals under the national program.
Notable wrestlers during his coaching tenure include:
- Amirhossein Zare – World Champion and two-time Olympic medalist
- Rahman Amouzad Khalili – World Champion and Olympic silver medalist
- Mohammad Nokhodi – Six-time World medalist
- Amirmohammad Yazdani – Four-time World medalist
- Alireza Karimi – Six-time World medalist and 2016 Olympian
Alizadeh also coached at four Senior World Club Championships as both assistant and head coach, working with elite international athletes including:
- Vladimir Khinchegashvili – 2016 Olympic gold medalist
- Taha Akgül – 2016 Olympic gold medalist
- Geno Petriashvili – 2024 Olympic gold medalist
as well as several other World and Olympic champions from around the world.
In the 2017 World Club Championships, Alizadeh led an Iranian club team as head coach to a major victory over the American powerhouse Titan Mercury Wrestling Club, which featured stars such as David Taylor, Kyle Dake, Thomas Gilman, Kyle Snyder, and Nick Gwiazdowski. His team won the World Club Championship title under his leadership.
He served for seven years as a member of the Technical Committee of Iran’s national wrestling program, and in 2017 and 2018, he was selected as Team Leader for Iran’s U17 freestyle team at the World Championships.
In February 2019, Alizadeh moved to the United States with his wife and daughter. Beginning in 2022, he started coaching in northern Mississippi, working as a coach for Tupelo High School and New Albany High School, and as head coach of UFM Wrestling Club.
In 2024, he was selected as a coach for the U.S. National Team at the ISF World Games held in Bahrain, where he helped lead Team USA throughout the competition.
